BORRA BORRA SLANT

Poseidon BORRA BORRA  slant is one of our premier lures– the internals of this lure are precision cut and perfectly curated and balanced – we have used the finest hard resin and the finest internals. Heat pressed 3D lettering no sticker for lettering. Very difficult to do and unique to us for this model in all its sizes and also the new Barrel bullet..

The M is 90grams L117grams and XL145 grams XXL. UNKNOWN. work in progress

This is one of our oldest moulds – only recently have we remade the mould after a 25 year period the model itself has taken countless giant blue Marlin and black Marlin.

This head can run with the hook lock making the setting of the hook point sit where the angler  would prefer it that is most comfortable for the individual.

There seems to be a lot of controversy on which is the best way to run a hook point up or down. Hook locks themselves can retard a lot of lures– Not every lure on the market runs well with a hook lock– the hydrodynamics  need to be correct keeping the lure vibrant cycling well and not slugging  in the water

The Borra Borra slant head is slightly oversized for the profile keeping the water pressures true and on on point this allows an aggressive wobble and this profile is a real easy lure for blue Marlin to eat – water after all is 800 times denser than air so the pressures keep the lure aggressive and the semi stiff rig does not retard the action in any way shape or form

We have only recently made the small model of the Borra Borra slant and as such we believe it’s going to be the missing key for a slower lure that is sensational for giant southern bluefin tuna and people that like to run hardbody lures in conjunction with skirted lures for this particular species were extremely excited about this model. Trevor Oldenampston, Mr Borra Borra himself has given it the tick of approval and he is chuffed and honoured that we have not forgot our roots furthermore we have brought him in with Poseidon Lures Australia.

We currently are making this model in medium large and extra large with soon to have a double XL model with a 3-D printed fish head inside the slant profile this is choosing to be extremely difficult but we are almost there for the double XL model 16.5 from tip to tip to be released in the coming months. As it stands right now we have the model in precision cut Mirror – And multiple colours of abalone shell and multipour tops making beautiful effects and tricks of light - this is one that you re going  to want to put in your tackle roll in multiples – This is fish trickery at its finest

HOOK POINT UP OR DOWN WITH HOOK LOCKS ?

After speaking to countless captains around the world we are of the mindset that it is a 50-50 ratio after all the marlin do come from underneath or to the side either way they’re still coming from underneath the lure so some people actually like having the hook point facing down and are still incredibly successful.   Others run point up. Also successful. Both ways work.  Hook down.  Corner jaw hook set.

Hook up corner jaw hook set most times.

It really comes down to what your comfortable with.  Most people will feel it in there bones and change it up on day if the odd fish is missed.

We personally like to run point up but that’s just us as I’ve stated both ways work well.

This model in all that sizes has made the leap to larger heavier leader poundage is without it affecting the hydrodynamics and the cycle time of this great profile the smaller 10.5 can easily take 300Lb if not heavier without it losing its aggressive action even though some southern tuna fishermen up to go really light in the fluorocarbon realm as these fish are fussy and elusive at times.150Lb is a go to for many gurus that trust their rigging. Zero room for error with 37kg tackle and 150lb leader crimps need to be perfect but that’s how many opt to hunt trophy SBT

12.5 inch 300 to 400 lb leader is fine.

14.5 inch 300 to 500 lb leader is fine.  You can step down in leader poundages If desired.  But for big Marlin heavier end of spectrum is the go.  It’s the rasping and chaffing is what your combatting with worn out long battles .
